Sweet & Sour Chicken

Yesterday I made some sweet and sour chicken
(<picture to left) with jasmine rice. Well....it is gone now!

That's all :-)

"Mmmm"

Recipe:

  • Chicken breast (cut into pieces)
  • Cornstarch
  • Vinegar
  • Soy sauce
  • Egg
  • Brown Sugar/White Sugar
  • Salt/Pepper
  • Ketchup
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Green bell pepper
  • Onion
  • Vegetable Oil (any oil of your choice)
  • (La Choy Sweet & Sour sauce)
*(Mix ketchup, sugar, oyster sauce, vinegar and soy sauce in small sauce pan on stove add a little cornstarch and let simmer.)

Heat oil in pot.
Add a little salt and pepper to cornstarch.
Coat chicken pieces in egg first and then cornstarch-set aside on a plate.
Proceed to add coated chicken to hot oil.
When fried chicken pieces turn a crunchy texture with yellow/golden color, remove from pot and let soak on a paper towel.

Heat pan with a little oil and saute green bell pepper and onion until softened.
Add homemade sweet & sour mix along with La Choy Sweet & Sour sauce and chicken.
Saute and mix together thoroughly until sauce thickens and is fully coated on chicken.

Voila!

*Serve with rice

Enjoy!

Soul

"The "soul," that is, the person, can die (Ezekiel 18:4, 20). Here it is said that the "soul" who sins will die. We shouldn’t make too much of this, as all this verse is saying is the obvious – a person, in this case a sinning person, will die. "Soul" is simply another word for "person," and persons die (Numbers 35:11, 15). In this physical sense, the soul can be taken by God (Job 27:8) or be forfeited by a person (Habakkuk 2:10).

Jesus also said: "Whoever wants to save his life [psuche] will lose it, but whoever loses his life [psuche] for me will find it" (Mathew 16:25).

Thus, while Matthew 10:28 seems to differentiate the "soul" from the body, and implies that the former cannot be killed by humans, yet paradoxically the same writer says that "soul" can be killed (Matthew 2:20). Matthew 20:28, in essence, implies that Jesus’ "soul" was killed by men at the crucifixion. As well, one can "lose" one’s "soul," and in doing so can find Jesus. Clearly, the word psuche is used in various contexts, and it is difficult to draw any final conclusions as to what "it" (the "soul") might be in any transcendental sense.
Notice some of these contexts. Souls can also be purified by the truth (1 Peter 1:22). They can be strengthened by ministry (Acts 14:22). Hope in God’s covenant promises provides Christians with an "anchor for the soul" (Hebrews 6:19). Souls are to be entrusted to God (1 Peter 4:19). Those who endure suffering without a loss of faith will "keep their souls" (Hebrews 10:39). But, the "soul" (person) can die, by drowning, for example (Acts 27:22)."

Getting over that lonely feeling...

"In today's world, it is not uncommon to hear of someone having the feeling of loneliness. No matter what you age, race, or social status is, loneliness can affect all types of people. At some point of just about all of our lives, we have experienced some type of loneliness, whether it is for a brief period of time, or for an extended one. We as people strive for companionship and reassurance from others. Nothing seems better than to have someone who understands you and can empathize with you.

Just because someone is alone, it does not mean that they are lonely. Someone can be alone for a period of time without feeling lonely. They can still enjoy life. However, there are people who can stand the thought of being alone. According to one dictionary, it states that "alone emphasizes being apart from others but does not necessarily imply unhappiness… lonely often connotes painful awareness of being alone, lonesome emphasizes a plaintive desire for companionship." Loneliness can feel like an overwhelming feeling. It is a feeling of emptiness and a sense of isolation. But what causes loneliness?

Many times problems or situation in family life can cause loneliness. You may feel rejected because of your physical appearance. It may because of race or weight. Changes in your environment can also cause this feeling. Children who have moved to a new school or new neighborhood may begin to feel alone. If you are married, lack of communication within the marriage can produce uncertainty and isolation. How can someone over come the emotions of loneliness? Though it may not be easy, it is possible.

Keep in mind that no situation is too bad that you can not change. The feeling that you have is not permanent. Do not be unreasonably demanding of yourself, have a proper balance of what you can achieve in a certain amount of time. Feel content about your self and begin developing good habits of eating and exercising, and good a good amount of sleep each night. It is amazing on how much better you will feel when you begin to feel healthy and is active. Avoid fantasizing about other peoples lives, especially movie stars. No one has a perfect life, and fantasizing about these non existent perfect families will only cause you to feel depressed. And first and foremost, if you feel lonely, do not suffer in silence. Acknowledge how you feel and share your thoughts with someone you trust. Talking about it is much better than indulging yourself into alcohol. There is a way to make yourself feel better. With work and determination, you will be able to get over the black cloud that seem to be over you."

    Termites!

If it is not one thing there is always something else!

Now I have to deal with termites flying in the room and droppings in the window seal in this old house. I am thinking I need to move because my kids don't need to be in this! Well I had to call the landlord but he has done nothing but he makes sure to collect his rent alright! I can't stand this so I had to find a solution until the exterminator or Terminex man (however you call 'em) comes to rid the house of these nasty termites.

Termites love heat and yes, I notice they pop up when there is a lot of heat (Yeah, definitely during those summer months....ughhhh). They also seem to have come through some opening they chewed through the window.....so of course, common sense, my solution to that was keep that window closed! "Uh duh, Jamie!". Well that solution helped well. Next comes the bug spray, I know it may only work temporarily but it seems have certainly got rid of those nasty pest from flying and crawling in the bedroom. I sprayed a lot of Hot Shot and Black Flag in the window and around the corners of places they may have been chewing through..... Voila! No more of those little buggers to be found! Only their gross droppings which I had to clean up, "Ewww".

Well, I hope this last until I get professional help. Until then, If they return, which I am assuming they will, I did a little online research on home remedies to get rid of termites (while they chew your house to pieces).

Hopefully this stuff works and may be beneficial to others having the same problem as myself with termites....

    The seasons....

After all this heat for the past couple of months....I am so happy it is cooling down again! Yes! It drizzled for a brief moment this late afternoon and man was I relieved lol! The cool autumn breeze will come shortly, the leaves will fall and kids will be back at school. This is the time to really enjoy being indoors and snuggled up with a nice warm blanket, of course, while studying for school. All that summer heat and outdoor play will soon dwindle away and the rain and cool air will soon return.
